Unique Culinary Experience featuring the Barbezieux

French Barbezieux

Sunbird Farms is excited to announce a unique culinary experience featuring the French Barbezieux.  In partnership with the Vintage Press, Sunbird Farms is hosting a truly unique dinner featuring one of the most reputed gourmet chickens in history, the French Barbezieux.  For years we have been raising rare, heritage breeds from around the globe.  Now we are offering an experience from the pinnacle of the poultry world, to a select number of patrons right here in Visalia.  To our knowledge, the Barbezieux is not available at any other restaurant in America!

Nearly 200 years ago, Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, the father of food writing, described his dining experience with the Barbezieux as one “riddled with excitement.”  In 2001, the Gault et Millau (France’s most respected guide to dining), recognized the Barbezieux as one of the best tasting chickens in all of France.  While rare today in its home country, an even smaller number have been recently introduced into the United States.  Few in the world have ever had the chance to savor this fine example of Slow Food, likely only a handful have ever been eaten in America.  We have raised these birds for more than 20 weeks on natural pasture, and are finishing them following traditional methods, using organic grains and pastured, organic milk.  We are so excited to be bringing this exclusive dinner to our local customers, and couldn’t be more thrilled to be partnering with the Vintage Press, celebrating 50 years of fine dining in the valley. The dinner will be hosted on Thursday, February 11th, and will consist of five courses, including dessert, and featuring our pasture-raised Barbezieux.  Due to the extremely limited nature of this event, we only have a handful of dinners available for the public.  If you are interested, please contact us as soon as possible: info@sunbirdfarms.com.

Happy dining!
